The 3 Stage Ferry Rocket is based on a design developed by Werner Von Braun between 1952 and 1954 as part of an article series that appeared in Collier’s Magazine. The design was refined in the late 1950’s to include technological advancements in aircraft design. The overall design consisted of two lift stages and a single plane-like stage that would return to Earth by gliding to a landing.

The Glencoe kit is molded in silver-gray styrene and includes a launch pad for the completed model. The parts are mostly smooth and lack surface detail, as fitting to a 1950’s-era rocket design.

A single sheet of waterslide decals by Scale-Master is included, with a choice of markings (CR or XR 1, 2 or 3).
