This beautiful little kit was one of the kits offered by Scale Model Technologies (SMT) before they received a Cease & Desist letter from LucasFilm around 2000.

The kit is cast in off-white resin and has really nice detail. The kit’s 17 resin parts are cleanly cast and are free from a lot of flash and voids. There are also two vacuform canopies included with the kit. A folding instruction sheet gives painting information, but the kit does not include any decals.

The kit goes together pretty much the same way as the AMT/Ertl kit, with upper and lower hull halves. One major difference is that the kit features a detailed cockpit, and also has a pilot figure. Unlike the AMT/Ertl kit, the SMT kit does not include landing gears.

The completed kit measures about 6 inches long and 4 inches wide. These kits do show up from time to time on eBay, and command a high price, but they are worth it.
